What AirPods Do I Have? Ways to Check Your AirPods Model
AirPods are one of the most popular wireless earbuds on the market, thanks to their easy-to-use interface and seamless integration with Apple devices. However, with the release of multiple iterations of AirPods, it can be challenging to identify which model you own. Fortunately, there are several ways to check which AirPods you have to ensure you take care of them appropriately and know if you are eligible for any software updates.
1. Check the Model Number
The easiest way to identify which AirPods you own is by checking the model number. You can find this on the underside of the lid of the AirPods charging case. The model number will be either A1523, A1722, A2032, A2031, or A2190. The first two model numbers are for the first generation of AirPods, while the next two are for the second generation of AirPods. The A2190 is the latest model number and belongs to the AirPods Pro.
2. Identify the Charging Case
Another way to identify which AirPods you own is by examining the charging case. The first-generation AirPods have a smooth, curved charging case, while the second-generation AirPods have a similar design but include an LED light on the front. The AirPods Pro have a shorter and wider charging case and feature an LED light on the front.
3. Use Your iPhone
If you have an iPhone, you can easily verify which AirPods model you have by going to the settings. You can start by making sure that your AirPods are connected to your device, and then navigate to Settings>General>About. Scroll down, and you should see your AirPods listed. If you tap on your AirPods, you will see more details about them, including the model name and number, serial number, and firmware version.
4. Use Your MacBook
If you own a MacBook and your AirPods are connected, you can verify their model by clicking the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar. Locate your AirPods in the list, and hold the Option key while clicking the logo. This action will bring up a menu that tells you more about your AirPods, including the model number.
5. Check the AirPods Pro Tips
Finally, you can identify the AirPods Pro by checking the ear tips. The AirPods Pro comes with three sizes of ear tips that attach to the main earpiece. If you remove the ear tips and examine the base of the AirPods, you’ll find the model number and other important information. The ear tips themselves will also have either an S, M, or L for small, medium, and large ear tips.
