4 Ways to Draw Guitars
Are you an aspiring artist interested in learning how to draw one of the most iconic musical instruments – the guitar? Look no further! In this article, we will go through four different ways to draw guitars that cater to various skill levels and styles. So, grab your drawing tools and let’s get started!
1. Drawing a Simple Acoustic Guitar
Step 1: Begin by sketching a vertical oval shape; this will serve as the body of the guitar.
Step 2: Draw a long, thin rectangle extending from the top end of the oval for the neck of the guitar.
Step 3: Add a smaller rectangle at the end of the neck for the headstock.
Step 4: Sketch six tuning pegs on either side of the headstock.
Step 5: Add a curved line along the edge of the oval to create the side contour of the guitar body.
Step 6: Draw six strings extending from just below the headstock down towards the bottom of the oval. Finish off by adding a bridge and soundhole in the center of the oval.
2. Drawing an Electric Guitar
Step 1: Start by drawing a simple geometric shape for your guitar body such as a rectangle or hexagon.
Step 2: Add in all other components as per usual – neck, headstock, tuning pegs, and strings.
Step 3: Incorporate unique design features like pickups (smaller rectangles), volume and tone knobs (small circles), and distinctive body contours or cutaways that set electric guitars apart from acoustic ones.
3. Drawing a Bass Guitar
Step 1: Follow similar steps described above for electric guitars but ensure you have a longer neck as bass guitars typically have more extended scales.
Step 2: Bass guitars usually only have four strings; ensure you reflect this in your drawing. Additionally, add fewer frets to the neck than you would for an electric guitar.
Step 3: Emphasize the broader body shape and place at least one large pickup near the center of the body.
4. Drawing an Abstract Guitar
Step 1: Experiment with unique, unconventional shapes for the body, neck, and headstock.
Step 2: Incorporate non-traditional elements such as intricate patterns and designs, fantastical colors, or even images inside the soundhole for acoustic guitars.
Step 3: Merge styles by blending components from electric, acoustic, and bass guitars. The possibilities are endless!
These four methods will give you a foundation to start drawing guitars. As you practice and gain confidence in your skills, you’ll be able to experiment with different styles and techniques to make your guitar drawings truly unique. So go ahead and unleash your creativity!
